The Orcutt United Soccer League (OUSL) in association with California Youth Soccer Association-South (CYSA-S) will be beginning a new program designed to promote soccer for athletes with physical and/or mental disabilities. The TOPSoccer program (The Outreach Program for Soccer) is a community-based program providing soccer opportunities for any athlete that is unable to participate in recreational soccer.
Rick Velasco, Orcutt United TOPSoccer Coordinator and District VII Commissioner is committed to provide soccer opportunities to all the players in our community. His support of the TOPSoccer program led him to attend several Cal South TOPSoccer Coaching Workshops. At these workshops, he earned a TOPSoccer Coaching Certificate. Mr. Velasco also holds a National “D” Coaching license, National Federation High School (NFHS) Diploma and has also completed the Cal South Risk Management Program.
As most community programs, this one is run entirely by volunteers. Mr. Velasco needs your help in promoting the TOPSoccer program in order to reach the players that can benefit from this program and the volunteers that can assists to develop this program.
The TOPSoccer program is open to any player with any disability. There are no requirements to be met and no player is ever turned away. This program is not only beneficial to the athletes that participate but also to the parents. The networking that is done by the parents regarding school, Social Security, treatments and other issues are extremely useful to the parents as they deal with the systems set up to assist their children. The community involvement with the TOPSoccer program creates a better understanding between the non-disabled and disabled community.
If you have any questions regarding the TOPSoccer program, please feel free to contact Mr. Velasco at firstname.lastname@example.org. Or please continue to visit the OUSL website for up-to-date information at www.ousl.org.
